Posted this in Beginners forum, but was directed elsewhere... if this forum's not appropriate either, just point me in the right direction, please and thanks.
I'm planning to register for one of the $1,000 buy-in WSOP events in early July. From the official site, I found that one would fill out the pre-registration form and then complete a wire transfer for a deposit on the entry form. Can anyone share their experience with registering and what important steps I'm surely leaving out? I will not be able to get to Las Vegas more than 24 hours before the beginning of the event I plan to play... will this present a problem? I read through the official rules already, but I have not contacted someone through the website yet. Thanks in advance. |

I haven't done it yet this year, but did this last year for the first event.
Considering the registration line for that event was about 3 hours long in the middle of the night the night before the event started, it turned out to be a good idea. That said, most of the events other than the first one didn't have very long waits to register; so if you're not registering for the first event, it's probably overkill to wire your money (24 in advance should be plenty to register). Now, back to your question. It's as simple as filling out the form, initiating the wire-transfer, and then waiting for your confirmation (generally 3-5 days later). When you get to the Rio, there's two things you have to do. First, you need to register as a WSOP participant, including signing a release to be on TV, etc. Then, if you've wired money, you go to a line for pre-registrations and you just show them ID and you're set to go. -Aces |

How much is the typical deposit sent via wire transfer for a pre-registration? I haven't gotten an answer from the WSOP website nor phone number.

They require full payment for the event at the time of pre-registration. So, for a $1500 event buy-in, you'll need to wire $1500.

This thread also has some useful information:
Pre-registering for WSOP I have already sent in my registration for #17 and am waiting to get confirmation. |

Did you wire the money or mail a cashier's check? Is wiring the money a hassle? I've never done it before, so I'm not really sure of the process.
