Godammit, why do most people stand still on escalators?

It really pisses me off. I mean, people run around shops like crazy, get to an escalator, then stand still when they stand on it. It's like they don't realise you actually get to the end faster if they use legs too.....

If putting one leg in front of the other to get someone as fast as walking takes you is not worth the effort then why not do all your shopping online and never leave the house?
