Default spots to raise in lp with speculative hands

Say you have a bunch of rocks limp into you and you're in the CO. The button and blinds are rocks.

You have A5s, 44, T9s.

What do you do with these hands? In HPFAP I think it suggests that you raise with them to tie your oppoennts to the pot.

However, I don't know exactly where this would apply.

Would you want 4 limpers instead of 3? Would you want to be on the button instead of in the CO?

I'm going to x-post in SS.

I think there are times to raise speculative hands in LP regardless of whether your opponents are rocks or not.

If your opponents ARE all rocks though, raising small/med PP's, small suitconns may be the most valuable of your suggested plays, since the your rock limpers will most likely be holding high card hands and the deck may be low card heavy. I know many people discount the value of bunching in hold em, and I'm one of them, but if 4 true rocks limp, we may say that high cards are likely out. Overall this may have little effect on the balance of the deck though due to the hands not played by other players .

More limpers should almost always be better for speculative hands, unless you are figuring your raise will give you an opportunity to bluff/semi-bluff on later streets.

Against rocks, raising is likely to buy the button, and we more likely have live cards. I probably just limp with A5s and 44 here, and raise T9s.

we don't need a table full of them to fold one guy to earn the button.. the situation seems too contrived so i'm just trying to cut to the point of the underlying question.

a table full of rocks might LRR, bet into us on the flop, etc.. making a raise's perks much less likely.

anyone have a link to CDC's famous 44 (or some low PP) PF raise which bought him a free turn look?
