Default David Blaines \"Levitation\"

These specials are on TV.. the trick where David seemingly suspends himself a few inches off of the ground for a brief moment.. Theres no sign of leg movements etc to suggest that he is jumping..

Does anyone have an explanation as to what this is?

Balducci levitation. Then they go back and re-record it with him wired up so it looks really cool on camera and edit in the people's reactions from the original Balducci levitation.

It's quite gay, really.

If you want to see something ridiculous, check out Tom Mullica's act, "Nicotine Nincompoop."

I am impressed, I never expected to see the correct answer so quick. I only know this answer because I researched it when this show first came out.

I used to practice magic for a few years in high school/college. This is one of the few effects I'll give away the answer to because I think it's played out (and just about everyone knows how it's done anyway).

I could do this trick.

Not the one where they shoot one clip and mix it with a different audience.

The leg angel/shadow trick. Google it, its a neat trick
