Default Live 5/10NL - 2black aces, hero covers villian.

Live game so bear with me on the (lack of) details.

5/10NL

Hero in the CO has approx $3000.
Villian is two seats to hero’s right, with approx $1400.

Hero had just gotten to the table not too long before the hand. (Came from a must move -feeder- table to the main table).

Villian was playing tight - in fact hero hadn’t seen him in a hand yet.

Hero was playing his LAG style - not quite sure if villian had enough time to observe that, yet.

Table was basically loose, passive pre-flop.

Hero is dealt 2 black Aces.

A few limpers and hero makes it $125.

Button calls and villian calls.

Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villains comes out betting into hero for $150.

The bet into hero has hero confused. Hero thought maybe Ace-10, maybe AK with the K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Maybe a set. The Flush draw was certainly out there, but with calling the pre-flop raise?

Being not quite sure whether to milk the pot a bit or bang it right then, hero min raises$150. (Hero knows any raise will get rid of the calling station on the button, so that isn’t an issue.) He also knows he will have to bang the turn for sure , but not sure how much to bang the turn. Button folds, villian calls.

Turn is J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Villian checks.

Thoughts so far and what is the next move?

raise more. make it like 450-500 and you can push turn. or just call if you think he'll keep firing with kings or queens. most of the time though, if he doesn't have an ace he's not putting any more money in and if he does have an ace it should all get in if you make a normal raise.

Raise more on the flop, or smooth call. Min raise accomplishes nothing, and a bigger raise will make it easier to get his stack in on the turn. Make it like $500-$600 on the flop.

As played, bet like $600, or move in, if you think he'll view that as a bluff/semi-bluff.

Min-raise was really more to get rid of the button/calling station so I could concentrate on playing the villian.

The much more important reasons to raise are to:
a) Protect your hand
b) Build the pot

I was trying to do both - lol. I was trying to protect my hand by not having a third player, but not lose the villian. I guess I did it half azzed.

Ok, so I grab a sleeve of greens ($500) and I bet the turn. Villian calls.

Thoughts?
