Default Leadoff for the Red Sox?

Crisp or Youkilis?

Crisp will have decent OBP of around .350-.360 with great speed.

Youkilis has little speed but a .400+ OBP

My uneducated opinion is to have Crisp leadoff, have Youk bat second and move Loretta down.

I picked Crisp simply because I don't know how we'll he'd fare as a #2 hitter behind Youk, dropping Loretta down to 8th.

If anyone has any evidence that CoCo can handle the bat well enough as a #2 hitter, then keep Youk as the leadoff guy.

Note: I didn't like the Crisp deal to start with, even though I was happy they didn't pay $12M for Damon. I wanted the Sox to use Stern as a place holder for a year and then break the bank to get Andruw Jones.

If we trade Manny we could move Crisp to Left and sign Jones have a great defensive outfield.

Manny is not being traded unless the Sox eat a major portion of his salary. So that means paying Jones ~$15M plus $7 or $8M of Manny's.

i'm thinking bat Coco 1, Loretta 2, Youk 8th.

Gonzalez is gonna hit 9th, but having Youk's OBP in the 8 spot may prolong some innings.

so instead of getting a cost controlled player at age 26, you would prefer they sign a player for 4-5x as much at age 30 AND suffer through a year of replacement level performance at CF?

hmmmmmmmmm
