Social Security-a problem for the future?
http://www.socialsecurity.org/
Here are some jaw-droppers. [ QUOTE ] A medium income worker born after 1965 can expect a rate-of-return of less than 2% on his or her Social Security taxes. Source: Actuarial Note 2004.5, Social Security Administration Office of the Chief Actuary, Table 3. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Nearly two-thirds of those under 30 years old don't think Social Security will be able to pay them any benefit when they stop working. Fifty-seven percent of people 30 to 49 years old agree. [/ QUOTE ] Seems like a major problem, especially for a lot of younger people. Discuss. |

Re: Social Security-a problem for the future?
At 23, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to see a dime of that money come back to me. I get to see how my social security taxes get spent when I go to the showboat and watch some retiree put a few more chips on lucky number seven.
