Default Grade My Play

I sit down at a LHE table and 1st hand...

Party 3/6 (6 players)

GerberBaby has T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in BB

3 folds, button raises, SB calls and GB calls.

Flop (3|6SB): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB bets, GB calls, button raises, SB calls, GB backtreys, button calls, SB calls.

Turn (3|7.5BB): T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB bets and GerberBaby raises...

About 10 hands later we see that the SB from the last hand is a 100% VPIP'er (has not been on a rush but will limp 52s UTG and whatnot). Other stats unknown but will raise preflop, can be aggressive but has a very hard time laying down a hand. He is SB in 2nd hand as well.

GerberBaby has 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in BB

Fold to SB who completes, GB checks.

Flop (2|2SB): 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

SB bets, GB raises and SB calls.

Turn (2|3BB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

SB checks, GB bets and he calls.

River (2|5BB): 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

SB checks, GerberBaby bets...

Did I graduate? Demoted to 2/4, or even worse...sit and go's?

I'll check back tomorrow,
Brad

Brad,

hand 1: very sexy.

Hand 2: I can go either way on the river bet here. I probably check because I am a pussy.

Yep, this is what I think. With that read, though, I think this might just be +EV.

I really like hand one. Preflop, we're getting good overlay to defend with a hand that can hit a lot of flops (or which can be easily thrown away). We've also got a little high card strength.

We flop a monster draw and exploit our equity edge once it looks like both customers are committed to the pot.

On the turn, we pick up top pair. I'm a little worried that SB donked in spite of the action on the flop and an overcard falling, but we still have our flush and gutshot outs if we're behind.

Now that the pot is getting big, we are happy for Button to fold, as he almost certainly has two overcards to our pair. If we can induce him to fold an overpair, that's even better.

Finally, if the river sucks, we can usually take a free showdown.

Hand two seems very standard. Keep value betting until he tells you to stop. River is a straightforward bet/fold, so no need to check behind and miss bets when we're ahead.

I give hand two a check, and hand one a check plus with a dinosaur sticker that says, "Good job!".
