Mixed Chinese
Does anyone play in a mixed CP game? What I mean is one "orbit" of standard, one orbit of deuce-in-the-middle, or anything like that.
A friend and I play in a casual game where we alternate rounds of 13-card CP and 12-card CP. In the 12-card rounds, we play with a 2-card front hand. (The quality of hands decreases considerably with one less card.) In the future we will probably add the deuce-in-the-middle version for a 3-game rotation. Do any of the Vegas or LA games play like this, or is it always one version, straight up? Also, here is something I have been thinking about. Some of you may be familiar with how high stakes players make prop bets on flops, doorcards, etc. Sometimes, when someone wins their prop on a flop, they are said to be "on for doubles", which means if they hit their prop on the next flop, they win double what they normally would. Now, we could apply this to Chinese Poker in a way. Suppose we are playing with the 2-4 structure. If I sweep a hand, not only would I get 4 points, but I would be on for doulbes for the next hand. So, if I sweep again, I get 8 points (and remain on for doubles), and I if I win 2 of 3, I get 4 points (but am no longer on for doubles). My opponent would score points as in any other hand. Royalties could remain the same, or they could double as well for the player on doubles. Another way to do this is to treat any win as a sweep when on for doubles, but only a "true" sweep allows you to remain on for doubles. And again, royalties could remain normal, or double as well. And a sweep doesn't even have to be the "activator" for doubles. It could something like winning with quads or a straight flush in back, or having trip sevens anywhere in a hand, etc. Does this sound like a good idea, for "home game" CP, or otherwise? |

Re: Mixed Chinese
I love CP and have never thought of this twist. Sounds like it would be easy to get action junkies involved.
