Casino AZ trip report
I'm in Tucson for a conference, but I flew into Phoenix, so I decided to kill some time and check out Casino Arizona.
Is there some rule in Arizona that all casinos must look like glorified big top tents? Every table in the room was filled, but my wait for $3-$6 or $4-$8 was only about 15 minutes. I ended up at $3-$6, so I bought in for $100 and watched a few hands to let the button pass. I liked what I saw: One guy called a bet on J-3-2 flop in a four-way raised pot preflop with Q6. Turn Q, River Q gave him trips to beat AA. Sadly, I didn't capitalize. In fact, it was my worst session ever as I burned through my buy in within 90 minutes. I lost $22 with QQ and $16 to AK. Nickle and dimed away everything else. It was shameful, really, and not just because the play was so bad... I liked the room. Awesome TV set up and the dealers I saw mvoed the game nicely. I was sad I never got to tip them. The rake is ridiculous, however... $5 in a $30 pot is awful. I'll definitely only play $4-$8 there if I go back. I'll probably try the Harrah's joint Southwest of Phoenix on my way back up there on Thursday. |

i'm pretty they rake 3$ max at those tables - did you have a terrible dealer with no one else paying attention?

do they have other prizes besides the bad beat? [/ QUOTE ] Yes... They are constantly running some promotion or another. With football in full swing they are doing splash pots, and "match the score" cards. They are also in the "added BBJ" season, where one day a week (Tuesday I think) they draw an amount and add it to the BBJ, which can get upwards of $100K. Aces cracked on the graveyard shift. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was told 3-4 years by a highly placed manager and was told by another person that they are being delayed by the worldwide shortage of building materials. Only a year would be nice, though. |

I drive past that twice on the way to and from work each day and it looks like those buildings that are nearby (but closer to the 101) have been kinda stagnant as far as construction goes.
You can see the huge area that they have cleared/clearing to the south of the main parking lot. |

China? I thought for sure that the giant sucking sound inhaling all the world's construction materials world was centered in Las Vegas. It looks that way every time I visit or hear about the development plans. LOL.
