Re: first hand for villain
The best piece of info from this hand is that he seems to prefer c/c to b/f.
You can take more obviously but I think pf/flop/turn are standardish for him and tell you a bit but not too much. |

villain don't like money and is a retardo-donk [/ QUOTE ] why? This is 4 handed. I've seen crazier play with 33 on scarier board from good players. |

[/ QUOTE ] i agree. only the river action really matters. it's like he realizes that the J is not a good card for him, but he loves to sd so he check calls. most players who would play flop+turn like this would value bet the river. but then again, maybe he's only doing this right now because he doesn't know you yet. not very much info in this one hand. |

Re: first hand for villain
Versus an unknown at 10/20 his line is fine. Getting raised on this river sucks, people make retardocheck behinds with better hands and people make retardobets with KQ or whatever.
Versus someone playing well the river is close between c/f and b/f. I would b/f here. Edit: With the expectation AK/AQ call me. |

In the games I've been playing lately a check-call on the river here is roughly the same EV as a bet (IMO), but betting opens up a whole 'nother can of worms as he realizes that the J should be a bad card for you and you shouldn't pay off with Ace high (you beat A7 and A6, and that's about it). You may not bluff a ton on the river, but in a lot of the online SH games people bluff way too much (we're talking betting KTo here on the river type-bluffs). But in addition, betting opens you up to having to spend 2BB when you don't want to be bluffable for one more bet on the river (one case where I think metagame matters a lot), and bet-calling certainly seems like spew as this river makes it not worthwhile to spend 2BB. Anyway, just general thoughts. Basically I'm saying if he knows how you play, a bet is probably slightly better than a check-call and a checkfold is actually the best EV play most likely, but if he doesn't know how you play and it's early in a SH matchup, check-calling has a number of benefits, also potentially including allowing him to more easily checkfold hands like this on the river in the future, and giving a LOT more credibility to his river bluffs. Re: first hand for villain
P.S. Please tell me this post is a result of his check/call being good and you bluffing in a spot where you obviously aren't bluffing, lol.
