Default Complaint about ESPN bottom line

I just wanted to complain about the terrible way that ESPN puts bottom lines on the screen so often now. I don't mind it on ESPNEWS, but I hate seeing it when I'm trying to watch a game (or Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight, etc.) It looks stupid and distracts from the watching of the game (or program) that I'm trying to watch. Am I alone in hating the bottom line or does anyone else agree with me?

THe part I hate is that is spends WAY too much time on one game - giving too much information. I can't count how many times I just wanted to see a damn score while playing poker or in a bar, and you have to stare at the screen for 10 minutes until they get to your score. Irritating.

I agree on all counts. Too distracting, and, if you're watching in a bar or poker room, it takes too long to get to the score you want.

Add to that the fact that those scroll bars burn in on plasma TVs. I watch way too much ESPN, CNN and CNBC, and so have held off buying a plasma as of yet.

I actually like the scroll bar, but wish they would keep it to just baseball. =)

Heh, heh, yellowdoyle, I totally agree. If the scrollbar were nothing but baseball, I would have no complaints either. I can't wait until the NBA and NHL playoffs end. Then the real sports season starts!

I know ESPN hates it when you watch their programming for longer than you otherwise would. You could get the ESPN phone.

The scrollbar is vital since gamblers are the ones watching, I agree I hate the stats though, I wish they would only do that once every few times.

What really bugs me is when they are showing an event on delay, and they show the final score for the game while it's being played. This has happened a couple of times with soccer matches I've tried to watch. It's very frustrating to go to great lengths during the day to not find out the score, only to turn on the match when it's being replayed late at night and find out the score within the first 15 minutes.

The worst is when I see that like Duke lost in basketball and I realize later that the ticker was on women's basketball and not men's. Sike!
