Default uNL gods need help

So this month started off as one as the best one ever...
I made a post here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...41#Post12137341
with my graph of the month so far:

And since then, the worst downswing of my life has happened:

I'm calling on the uNL gods to reveres this curse that is the Full Tilt doomswitch.
obligatory BBV:
Brag:1st month in college
Brag: moved up to 50NL this month
Beat: was forced back down to 25NL
Beat: down $62
Varience: expecting $70 in rakeback?
What it do?

Just from today:
against a 55/37/8:
Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $10.65
BB: $23.25
UTG: $32.15
Hero (MP): $23.30
CO: $42.05
BTN: $52.25

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.85, CO calls $0.85, 2 folds, BB calls $0.60

Flop: ($2.65) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 Players)
BB bets $2.50, Hero raises to $5.00, CO folds, BB calls $2.50

Turn: ($12.65) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB bets all-in for $17.40, Hero calls $17.40

River: ($47.45) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players - 1 All-In)

Pot Size: $47.45 ($2.35 Rake)

BB had A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (a flush, Ace high) and WON (+$21.85)
Hero had A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (a pair of Jacks) and LOST (-$23.25)

and ick.... against a solid player but was obviously using position on me over 2 tables

Hand 1: Bigger raise on flop. Otherwise, standard.
Hand 2: I fold this preflop. And I like to play hands preflop, but this is just trash. KT UTG is a good way to get in trouble. I don't really like firing again on this turn, but there's some merit to it I guess. Anyways, after he raises, I dump this. I would probably fold AT in this spot. Baluga FTW. River standard.

What's the point of this post anyway? You aren't looking for advice, and this is a strategy forum, not BBV. This kinda stuff can be posted in the Official uNL BBV thread, as well as the Microbrew (maybe). In before lock.

Hand 1 raise more on the flop, make it 8, get it in on non club turn...you got sucked out on..big deal.

Hand 2 Fold the turn if you say he's a decent player, you ahead of exactly QJ J10 which no decent player plays this way. If the same hand is played against a donk get it in on the turn, theres not many safe cards that can fall on the river and if he picked up an extra draw on the turn make him pay with his stack for it

1. Copy all of Pokey's essays into a Word document.
2. Go to Kinko's and get a copy professionally bound.
3. Profit!!!

haha, I wanna do the same with CTS' old blog.

Edit: OP, you play bad. Play/post/study more. Your "downswing" is probably when you run normal.

This really is not that many hands. The All-In luck is frustrating, but check back at 10k, 20k, 30k hands...it is amazing how the luck swings over the short term, but the two lines converge over time.

As far as the hands go:

HAND 1 - Minraises are lame.

HAND 2 - KTo UTG is also lame. Not horrible, but not super strong.

You say that villain is solid. So what do you think he is raising on the turn that you beat?

OP, the graph you posted about running well shows how much money you won, whereas the graph you posted about running badly shows how unlucky you were. This is apples and oranges. And I think it shows that you are thinking about the wrong things. IMO you are being results-orientated and displaying bad psychology.

Anther example of bad psychology is when you use the phrase "just from today" to introduce the hands you post as though the hands are the most evil and cruel crap ever dished out. But the fact of the matter is that Hand 1 is a combination of badly played and a totally standard cooler, and Hand 2 is just plain badly played.

And for what it's worth 8,000 hands is a few days poker, not a real sample size. If you are panicking about a 3 day downswing you have a lot of pain in your poker future.

Generally, this thread is a horrorshow.
