Villain is running about 39/31, although we haven't tangled that much. He's 3 bet me small a few times, and I folded mostly but nothing out of control.
This first hand felt really weak, but after the river I had trouble putting him on a hand I beat. Does anyone double barrel the turn? Call river? No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $10/$20 4 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $3.078.50 Button: $7.712.35 Hero: $2.587.00 BB: $8.065.00 Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 folds, Hero raises to $70, BB calls. Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($140, 2 players) Hero bets $120, BB calls. Turn: Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($380, 2 players) Hero checks, BB checks. Results: Final pot: $360 This next hand, I feel like raising and calling both have their pros and cons on the flop, it's a spot where I mix it up. Should I just raise? On the turn I felt kind of lost. My hand seems kind of face up at this point, so he must know that's a bad card for my range, and might be double barreling. In retrospect I probably should have raised the flop or folded the turn. Thoughts? Hand #2: Raise flop! Protect your hand!
From both of these hands you seem to play like a weak-tight calling station. Might want to change your play a little bit. |

[/ QUOTE ] no no no no no no no there is NO reason to protect your hand against a maniac who is running 40/30, call every street and ship the money [/ QUOTE ] Yeh your assuming the lag will fire 3-barrels everytime regardless of whether or not he hits and that you can just be a calling station and beat him. I feel like this is a flawed strategy. A lot of lags want you think this how they play, but many only fire the last barrel if they have a good hand. A lot of them use their bets to control how the hand goes. This is not what you want, espically on this sort of board where a bunch of scare cards exist. Just because the LAG likes to bluff a lot does not give you an excuse to start smooth calling him the whole way with overpairs. In short, by being a pure calling station your giving a smart LAG a ginormous implied odds edge over you everytime you play a hand with him. Calling more than normal is fine and to be expected but dont go overboard. |

I actually like the fold in hand 2. Just feels like he's squeezing a good hand here a lot... I don't know, maybe I'm crazy.
The second hand is an insta call for me though. |
