Default Esquire best bars in America

Esquire best bars in america 2007

The 2007 list is out from Esquire. Anybody have any comments on the bars listed? Any personal stories about happenings at any of these bars.

The only bar on the list I had been to was the Replay Lounge in Lawrence Kansas. It was a surprise to see it on the list.

Clermont Lounge listed as the best in Georgia. Classic.

I think they got confused with the California list and thought they were doing a "best of downtown LA" list...

I think the problem with lists like these is that so much of what makes a bar a "good bar" is who you know who goes there, how well you know the bartenders, etc.

Also, I don't live in NYC so none of the NY bars applied to me. Bastards.

Findingneema - it is even more egregious... because it really is mainly downtown LA, excluding (within metropolitan LA alone) the great hotel bars on the Westside, WeHo, Hollywood, K-Town, Santa Monica, Los Feliz, Silverlake etc etc... it's a bit retarded.

Though I think having a single SF bar is fine (although I don't agree with their choice).

Definitely an experience. No doubt about that.

Nothing more classy than a women crushing PBR cans in her breasts.

Also been the the bar in Puerto Rico. Tambo Tavern I think. Pretty cool spot right on the beach. It has decent food and excellent drinks

Yeah, I don't get the criteria. I can think of plenty of bars I'd rather go to in D.C. than the Hawk n' Dove. I mean, really, who wants to hang out with low-level Congressional staffers? With a few exceptions, that's a reason to avoid a bar, not go there.

In Maryland, however, Brewer's Art is a good time.
