A9 in the BB - Chip lead vs 2nd place
2+.20 MTT on Stars, ~1600 entrants, We are currently in the money with about 30 or so left, maybe more.
Relevant Stacks Hero BB ~220,000 Chip lead Villain UTG ~160,000 2nd in chips Blinds are 4000/8000 at this point I think. I forget what the ante is. Reads: UTG is new to the table, has played 2 hands in about 2 - 3 orbits, one he folded to my reraise after a cbet, the other he won without showdown from cbet. Hero holds A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG Raises 24,000 folded to hero who calls. Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG bets 24,000, hero calls Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG bets 40,000, hero calls River: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG bets 72,000 and is all in, Hero??? [ QUOTE ]
Fold the flop, fold the turn, fold the river. [/ QUOTE ] I don't hate the pre-flop call although what kind of flop are you going to need to feel confident with your hand post-flop? Will villian pay you off it you get that flop? Whatever it is 2nd pair/top kicker and a back door draw to the nut flush aren't it. |

Re: A9 in the BB - Chip lead vs 2nd place
One important factor about this hand is how many handed is the table? If it is a full table or 8 handed, I muck this pre-flop, 7-6 handed, i probably muck too.
Less than that and I think this is playable OOP. As for the hand, I'd fold the turn. |

Re: A9 in the BB - Chip lead vs 2nd place
i think you only played b/c you are sooted.... A9 is no good facing an UTG raise. When you are calling OOP pretend your cards are diff colors cause it hardly matters
