Help with understanding the betting lines for World Cup
Sorry if this is a total newb question, but I'm a little confused. If anyone has Pinnacle Sports, they can see what I'm asking about. There seem to be 3 different point spread lines for each game. Are these full game, first half, and second half lines?
Here is how it looks: Fri 6/9 4 Poland * -0.5 +106 11:59 AM 5 Ecuador * +0.5 -112 Fri 6/9 4 Poland * pk and -0.5 -127 11:59 AM 5 Ecuador * pk and +0.5 +121 Fri 6/9 4 Poland * pk -214 11:59 AM 5 Ecuador * pk +200 Help is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Help with understanding the betting lines for World Cup
Fri 6/9 4 Poland * -0.5 +106
11:59 AM 5 Ecuador * +0.5 -112 this is similar to a Pick Em, but ties go to Ecuador. Fri 6/9 4 Poland * pk and -0.5 -127 11:59 AM 5 Ecuador * pk and +0.5 +121 this is a split bet where half your wager is on PK and the other half on +/- 0.5. you gain part of the tie back with poland, but you have to lay more to compensate. Fri 6/9 4 Poland * pk -214 11:59 AM 5 Ecuador * pk +200 this is a straight moneyline, with the draw prop taken out. if the teams tie, bet is no action. since soccer/futbol is such a low scoring game, these fractional point bets carry a lot more juice than in other sports. all of the above lines are for the full game. there is a separate menu in pinnacle for World Cup halves. |

Re: Help with understanding the betting lines for World Cup
Those lines are called "Asian Handicaps". Totals o/u also use those fractional goals as opposed to the standard o/u 2.5 goals found at many bookies.
Then there are also fixed odds where you can wager on any of the three possible outcomes (1X2). |
