Bigstack after day 1 - thoughts?
in almost every tournament there are critical points in which having a stack to be able to push around is important. Very clearly the bubble for the main event is one of these points, but what about the other pseudo bubbles before that?
I have alot of chips after day 1, clearly i want to play tight until i figure my table out, but how tight? My experience playing online tournaments with huge fields leads me to use my stack to run over the table - to keep gambling. But ive never had this much opportunity to "pick my spots". Im looking for deepstack day 2 theory for this main event. I have chiplead for my table with 78k. My goal is to have 200k by the bubble to be able to take full advantage. |

Just don't become a TIGHT NIT as tuff fish would say. Play your normal game but raise with a few more hands than you normally would. Hopefully your table will allow you to run over them.

I have alot of chips after day 1...I have chiplead for my table with 78k. [/ QUOTE ] I'd keep in mind that you have about 1/10th of 1% of the chips you'll need to win the tournament. That's a way of keeping in perspective how far away you are from the big goal. The Day 1 chip leader last year was Haakon Waestad. Remember him? [ QUOTE ] My goal is to have 200k by the bubble to be able to take full advantage. [/ QUOTE ] The average stack at the bubble should be just under 100,000. So, a 200,000 stack probably won't even be the big stack at a table. It's likely two players at your table will have bigger stacks. 200,000 would be about 0.235% of the chips in play. The bubble last year was reached at the end of Day 2. 569 players remained. 560 got paid. A chip stack which reprented 0.235% would have been about 132,000. A 132,000 stack would have put you at about the 25th percentile. You would cover 3 out of every four players. |

His name's calvin... dunno if he's your neighbor or just a friend, but he says he's played poker with you before, he was excited when I told him you were one of the chip leaders...

Are you the Aaron in the 3 seat, while I was in the 4 seat. My name is Peter, if it was you, I enjoyed playing with you our table was real fun(except the jackazz calling with A-10). If youre the guy I am thinking of, good luck, actually good luck either way.
