Blackface: Racist or Funny?

This Halloween, I saw a couple of white skinned people sporting costumes, such as Flava Flav, that included painting their faces black. Personally, I am offended by the use of blackface, especially because of its racist history. I think that it is possible to be an awesome Flava Flav and still maintain your natural skin color.

However, some of my roommates have a different opinion. We got into an argument because they do not find blackface to be a big deal.

What do you think?

Blackface is clearly very funny if done right.

Being a white flava flav is lame.

I don't find it offensive, but also don't think its that funny. Some people are like OMG HES BLACK BUT HES NOT REALLY BLACK OMGHAHAHAHHAAHAH

It's only funny if there are no black people around, otherwise it's kinda awkward.

Sorry dude but part of being flava flav is the fact that he's a black dude wearing a clock. A white dude wearing a clock is not falava flav. It is a dorky ass white boy with a clock.

blackface is not just painting your face "brownish" to appear black, blackface is like, BLACK, w/ exaggerated pink lips

wtf? If you are going as a black character then what is the problem? People are too science damn sensative.

BTW There were a billion flava flavs for halloween this year. The best one I seen was white. Most of them sucked.
