MpCmdRun.exe is trying to access the internet
I woke up this morning to this popup from ZoneAlarm. I googled the error message with no results. I have denied permission but if anyone knows what this is please let me know.

Re: MpCmdRun.exe is trying to access the internet
I know that cmdrun.exe is a known virus infection. You may want to run some anti-virus and see what it finds. It may possibly be some type of trojan; and as a poker player this is one of the last things you want on your PC.

IIRC that is an old FORTRAN command, can't remember it's purpose offhand. This seems unusual to be on a Windows operating system.

Re: MpCmdRun.exe is trying to access the internet
Yes, but now it is being used to appear as a legit process to users. Many harmful programs have used it in the past.

Re: MpCmdRun.exe is trying to access the internet
mpcmd is related to the Windows Media player. I just saw another post here titled "Is 2+2 trying to hack me" and that guy has a virus problem that appears to be related to Windows media player.
Microsoft released a patch day before yesterday. microsoft.com |

This is a component of the new Windows Defender. Could have been attacked, but probably not.
