If he wasn't who he was, who would he be?
You want an estimation of his talent, but long-term success in anything is never about talent. It's always about character. People often want to treat poker is the exception to that rule, but it isn't. |

He was by-far the best Gin player around during his time. And he learned Poker quickly. Although they are drastically different games, they are both cards.
And he had an incredible sense of cards (as proven with his Gin game and his quick adept learning of Poker)... Sure he went broke but what player hasn't? That doesn't signify his skills, just his gambooooool. |

Depending if he had the hunger, which I doubt, he would be the greatest of all the tournament players. No question.
