Vaseline?
Anyone ever put Vaseline on their clubheads? Just wondering how much of a difference it makes. Dewey Tomko sure made it seem like it helped him, according to Rick Reilly's book.
I think it would be fun to try sometime if it helps. Not to angle shoot, but just to keep the ball out of the hazards because I suck. |

It's cheating, but I guess you can try and hide it from your buddies.

Re: Vaseline?
It will give you more distance as the ball clings to the club an extra fraction of a second. I heard about this and tried it on my own in a practice round years ago. First tee I gained about 20-30 yards. Hit it a couple more times, same results, but lost interest because as others have mentioned, it's cheating, so why bother?
However, if you are playing with a group of buddies and want to risk getting a beat down, chapstick is the best bet for not getting caught. |
