Default Want 5 figure swings in ur homegame? Click 2 learn more (sick game)

The name of the game is called Puppet (or as I like to call it, puppet of death)

You start with a fixed ante, in our case tonight $5.

Everyone receives 2 down cards and antes their $5. A seperate two cards (belonging to the Puppet) are also in play.

Everyone decides whether they are in or out by the following: Everyone places a single chip in their palm, and counts "1...2....3...go" and if they are in, they drop the chip down to the table.

Those who are in run their cards out hold'em style against each other, and the puppet. If you win, you get the pot. If you lose, you pay the pot. The game ends when a single player volunteers in the game and defeats the puppet. If the puppet defeats everyone, everyons pays the pot. Whoever wins gets the pot. Simple concept, I think.

pbdrunks gave us this blessed game, and it basically dictated everyone's night in the homegame. I was immediately stuck $5,000 when my A4o could not beat the puppet's 93o (the puppet also defeated yellowsub's J4 in the same hand). Yellowsub proceeded to win the next pot against the puppet, making back for his losses. I am still stuck $5k. Gah!

Dont ask me how a $5 ante five ways turns into a $5k pot, but it happens and it's nasty. Somehow I got back even on the night thanks to Gut and 5/5/15 NLHE/PLO (greatest feeling ever). One player in our home game was up $8,000 and ended the night down a few thousand, all thanks to Puppet.

Anyways, if seeing your friends lose large sums of money makes you very happy, learn the game Puppet. It is the most evil thing ever invented.

btw the OP sounds confusing, let me explain

hero is dealt AJo. hero places 1 chip in palm. the pot is $50.

everyone says "1...2...3...go" and u drop ur chip (denomination doesnt matter).

2 other people drop their chip and table KQ and 44. The puppet hand is 83o.

The board runs out AT796 and the puppet scoops. everyone who played adds $50 to the pot.

the next hand, the pot is $200.

only one hero volunteers and shows TT. the puppet rolls over KK (wtf), the board runs low and hero must pay $200 to the pot.

the next hand, the pot is $400. Hero decides to give it a go with A9s, and another player comes in and plays with 77. The puppet has K3o.

The board runs 73329 and the guy with 77 wins $400, and hero with A9s must put $400 into the pot. the next hand, the pot is $400.

hope this explains it.

This does sound awesome. However, I wonder if some changes in the rules could make it even better?

How about if only 1 player stays in so he is HU with the puppet and he loses to the puppet he does not have to pay the pot, but he doesn't get to take the pot. It stays and everyone re-antes.

I think this may be a good rule to combat nitiness. People won't want to let someone get a freeroll with the puppet so they will in effect lower their calling standards.

Otherwise, it seems it would be best to play a pretty tight game since even if everyone folds you still have to beat the puppet or risk paying the pot. So I think this would loosen up the game even more? Thoughts on this? Good idea/bad idea?

Anyways, I can't wait to try this game out. We used to play guts all the time but this sounds even better.

When we played guts we put in a p*ssy rule. Which states if everyone folds then the best folded hand had to match the pot with no chance of winning it. This loosens up play.
