Have always wanted to experiment with squeeze plays, but I never know where to find suitable spots. Here short villains push gave me a chance. Or is it the short villains push that is the actual squeeze and I'm the reason why BB shouldn't have called the shorties re-raise?
BB is 27/11/6 Noble Poker 0.05/0.10, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker Button ($6.81) SB ($1.77) BB ($21.97) UTG Hero ($10.00) UTG+1 ($9.32) MP ($2.90) MP ($2.00) MP ($3.96) CO-1 ($3.73) CO ($1.75) Preflop: Hero is UTG with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero raises to 0.40, 7 folds, SB moves all-in for 1.72, BB calls 1.67, Hero moves all-in for 9.60, My thinking is that its probably going to be a coin flip with shortie, and being UTG raiser BB should have some respect for my raise & 4-bet - although on second though I guess a smaller raise would have been scarier. |

I think it's a fine place for it and a good hand to do it with.

There's nothing wrong with what you did, but I think it's actually an isolation play, not a squeeze play. SB is all in and cannot be folded.
The idea of a squeeze play is to try to get both players to fold, usually when you have some substandard hand. You need to have reason to think the initial raiser was raising light and the second guy just called, usually with some pair or a drawing hand. See e.g. Harrington Vol 2. p.23 |

Thanks for the clarification Specialwon! I think I remember that example, but I'll gladly look it up again. Very nice of you to give me the page numbers

The hand turned out a bit as expected, BB thought for a while and folded. Shortie showed KQ which was nice.
What I didn't expect was to get a lot of crap from the table, telling me that I'm a maniac and that AK is not a favorite to any pair. BB also chimed in to say that I'm crazy or have too much money. Apparently they didn't understand my isolation play. So in addition to being an +EV play I think I got a lot of good meta game since the table thinks I'm a gambling donkey. |
