Default Disappointing Lotus Elise

I was at a market research group today and we looked at the Honda Civic SI, Mazda Miata and Lotus Elise. I have never been more dissapointed to sit in a car that as I was with the Lotus. The car is impossible to get in and out of, and because it is so light the plastic is a total joke. The more I touched the car the more I hated it. I hope that thing handles good, becuase the interior was a total joke.

I think you totally miss the point of the Elise.

Trust me I try to appreciate the point. Its just that the interior was overwhelmingly crappy.

It's a $40k car that absolutely dominates on most tracks, what kind of interior are you expecting?

Yeah, the car does well in Auto-X's. (Saw one run here in N.Cal a few years ago) I drove in it with my 94 Prelude Vtec.

They are best on a tight windy road / track.

nice juxtaposition of sentences there

i'll clear it up for u: lotus is an engineering company, not a car company; they make a driving machine and then put the bare minimum to make it considered a 'car' on top of that machine

it will outhandle basically any car you can buy and THAT is the point of it

the interior is minimal and it's not easy to get in/out of it, but who cares when u are driving through the mountains

Yeah, no [censored]. You can't expect to step into a Bentley when you're stepping into a track car. This is basically a Forumula 1 car with a body, and a smaller 4-cylinder engine.

WTF, do you expect?

This is all 100% true.

But

The new exige is better.

Jeremy Clarkson reviewing the exige on Top Gear

I love lotuses/loti/lotus.
