irrational and sudden impulses you\'d never really do
I just had one: take this cup of freshly brewed coffee and throw it all over someone.
The person in question is nice and I actually like them...but, wouldn't it be interesting, you know, what IF.... Someone mentioned something like this in an unrelated thread once...I think it was along the lines of "ok so i was driving and thought 'wonder what it'd be like if i just cranked hard on the wheel right now and flew off the road!'. Does this happen to anyone else? Does it sound nuts? I think there's something about the fact that there's no way in hell I'd do X that somehow puts X in my mind. Something must be in my coffee...but I've typed this out, so lets hear it! |

Re: irrational and sudden impulses you\'d never really do
[ QUOTE ]
Story? [/ QUOTE ] On the clock going to a field-service call in Downtown San Jose. I was in my own car, but on company time, so am under their insurance. Coming down 280N from Milpitas, planning to take the 87N. In the slow/exit lane passing the 4th St. onramp as a car merges in front of me from 4th. It was some little punk in a BMW 2002 and he was going about 30 mph. I don't get in a big hurry to break and get a little close to display my displeasure at his speed. He taps the breaks and then flips me off. I move over to motor by him and as I get along side, he jestures again. I jesture back and then proceed to put my front wheel-well into his driver door and run him to the rail. I stop and offer to finish our conversation. He jumps back in his car and locks the doors. He sued me for $2k and won of course. My company paid. edit/disclaimer: i was 22 at the time |

By-Tor, was the satisfaction you got worth it? [/ QUOTE ] all it cost me was a point on my driving record and a dent in my wheel-well, so... Yes. It was very satisfying. |

Re: irrational and sudden impulses you\'d never really do
Extremely common. From some books I've read some pyschologists chalk it up to our brains testing our rationality.
The difference between you and crazy people is that you can control your urges...for now |

To elaborate on my own weird urges:
-I've wanted to jump through plate glass windows -Jump off the 2nd level at the local shopping mall -Open the emergency door on an airplane |
