So who in here wants the US to fail in Iraq?

If you are part of that 37%, what is your reasoning? You may hate Bush or the US government in general, but do you really think we will all be better off if we fail in Iraq? Or would you just get pleasure in seeing Bush fail regardless of how many lives are ruined in the process?

I'd like it to succeed, I don't think it will, and we should never have gone in the first place. I think most demos feel something along those lines. It's certainly not shocking.

I wonder how respondents interpreted the question. I assume that the question was read literally as printed, and that pollsters were instructed to do no interpretation or explanation. It seems to me that one could easily interpret "success" of the plan as success in getting implemented.
Eg, Pres. planned or intended to send x-number troops. Congress somehow blocked it. Therefore Pres's plan failed.

Look at the other questions above it.
Dems oppose the plan, don't think it will work, would vote to deny funding for it, don't think it is a real change in strategy, yet 51% still hope it succeeds -- and yet 67% of Republicans think "most Democrats want the Iraq plan President Bush announced last week ... to fail and for him to have to withdraw U.S. troops in defeat." Good job Fox.
