Not much history w/ villain, but he's one of the reasons I'm at the table. 44/18/2.8 and he's pretty passive postflop. Likes to take stabs at orphan pots, but pretty much just passive unless he has a monster. When he does, you hear about it on the turn (4.5AF on turn).
My image is pretty TAG-ish and had had a few big hands hold up, hence the stack size, so nothing too out of line. The question here is bet-sizing and what to make of his donk (blocking?) bet on the river and how to play it from there. I hate these spots, have alot of trouble with them myself..I think a big part of his range is Jx. He won't show up with a draw.
Given odds, I call and won't be surprised if he has AT or J9. |

I don't see too much that he limp/calls with and then calls flop and turn.
With your read of him getting agressive on the turn with a hand I'd say Jx or a pair under the J are the most interesting hands. Of the limp/callable hands you beat J8, 77, 88 on the river and tie JT. With your read I'm discounting 22/66. He could very well have [99, JT, J9, J8] 77/88 would still make sense up untill the river. Vs donkish players I don't treat a 1/3 PSB as a protective bet too often. Given odds I'd call. Any reads on how he plays his middle pairs? |

You can't fold this getting 4:1. He has a J a lot (sometimes J9) maybe like TT or something or even 54/53/43 at a long shot. It's no fistpump but I'm sure sure you're good >20% of the time here.

Obviously he aint thinking of folding? He's thinking of valueraising, the only trouble is that villain probably wont call to much with hands you beat, with a hand like AJ I definitely raise here, but TJ is kinda the crossover spot, I'm just calling here altough I don't hate on small raise. WP to the river by the way.

Yep, looked as if he raised the river here.
Id just call given the odds. 20% is def ok to find a call here. Id say he often just has any j or a midpair. |

This sure smelled like a blocking bet and not an extraction bet. I discussed this w/ a couple of other 2p2'ers over AIM when this happened and told them that I thought a small raise is extracting a ton of value and they weren't so sure, so they suggested posting this one. Thanks for the replies, fellas. I'm still not 100% sure that raising was the right play and maybe I should have asked that in the original post. Still, any more thoughts here? I dont think you make any money by folding in these spots. he'll show you some goofy J or 88/77, or even something like 5h4h the 20%+ of time he needs to.
