Ordered a pool cue from FTP to Europe (NL); I have to pay shipping?
So I have a RB account at FTP and Im not really playing there anymore (Account balance $0.00, RB balance $0.00). I decided to spend a couple of my points on the pool-cue (~10k points) since thats one of the few items that can be shipped outside the US.
Now a couple of days ago (presumably) the cue arrived but I have to pay 55€ (~75$) to receive it. I mailed FTP shortly after and they said that this is happening sometimes. However, they would credit my account balance if I provided them with a copy of the invoice. Now Ive heard about the story with deducting $ from your MGR (RB account) when you order stuff. Therefore the FTP store is of "no use" for people with RB accounts (it was said). Could it be that this is their way of getting me to pay for it (compensate for the fact that there is nothing to deduct from my MGR)? The person I mailed with obviously wont know about that. So did they just say they would pay me back cause they didnt know I have an inactive RB account? Or will they do it regardless, deduct from my MGR and if I were to play at FTP again let me start with a negative MGR? Its not that 75$ were that much for a cue, but if I have to pay for it in the first place Im not getting some never-seen FTP labelled "pro" cue from teh internets. Anybody know about this? All comments appreciated, greets, hra |

I guess this is not for shipping. I think you have to pay VAT + import tax since the cue was shipped from outside the EU.
You are not paying this to FTP, but to Dutch customs. |

[/ QUOTE ] Okay that sucks. I just did something that I should have probably thought of before making this thread: I just checked back my RB affil. (havent logged in since ages, thats why I didnt think of it) and I actually have a negative MGR. They deducted almost 60$ giving me a -15$ actual balance with my affil. Okay, that problem is solved. They did charge me. One question remains though: Will they really pay for the custom fees just like that? Or is it gonna be some impossible to clear 5% deposit bonus they will give me? |

Can't imagine that they will pay the taxes for you, but if they did it would be real nice. Remember having a similar PSO experience and they recommended vouchers or downloadable for europeans. The tjing is that shipping cost is added to the value of the product when taxes are computed so it can be quite expensive.

Here is what they said when I e-mailed them about the issue:
[ QUOTE ] Hello Michael, Thank you for your email. We are sorry to hear you have to pay taxes/duties on your item. We cover as much of the shipping costs as we can from our end, but unfortunately, some of the duties/taxes are beyond our control. However, if you email us a copy of your invoice, we will be happy to reimburse your out of pocket expense to your account. Thank you, [/ QUOTE ] Can I take this as a clear "Yes, youre gonna get that money back"? I really dont like the "reimburse" sentence. |

They are 99% likely to reimburse you for the taxes. Wouldn't be the first documented time FTP did this to for a European customer.
A few of the major sites do this because it is in the best interest of the site to get the word out that they take care of the European player base. |

Whether they will keep their promise, that's a different issue. |
