AK late in sattelite - help me to play it correctly
Game #6144540924: OCT MPP LB 1-250 (ID5801082) $0+$0 - Hold'em NL (800/1600) - 2007/11/03 - 17:20:32 (UK)
Table "5801082 - 1" Seat 8 is the button. Seat 1: noseyboy (46266 in chips) Seat 3: KWR460 (56966 in chips) Seat 6: bwd27 (23295 in chips) Seat 8: Katiska (47473 in chips) noseyboy: posts the ante 200 KWR460: posts the ante 200 bwd27: posts the ante 200 Katiska: posts the ante 200 noseyboy: posts small blind 800 KWR460: posts big blind 1600 ----- HOLE CARDS ----- dealt to bwd27 [Ah Kc] Raise or all in? I actually raised to 4600, SB (noseyboy) called. --- FLOP ----- [4s Qd Qh] noseyboy: bets 3200 What the hell do i do? Few notes: First 2 get CPC package worth 4k, 2 others already guaranteed 500$. No special reads on noseyboy, never played with him before, he didn't seem wild at the tables, nursed his pretty sizable stack all the way to the final 5-6, but seems to loosen up a bit lately. |

Re: AK late in sattelite - help me to play it correctly
Given your stack size, I just shove preflop and accept a call and accept folds.
As played, I would call and see a turn and go from there. |

Re: AK late in sattelite - help me to play it correctly
I guess i feel a bit uncofortable with this particular size of a stack, i got M of about 7, but this is a very shorthanded table. Read Harrington long ago, do i have to multiplay the 7 by 0.4 to find my actual M?
Ok, let's say you call, blank comes out.He checks. You check behind? Also, if i call and give up, i got 15k left and that's really short... |

Re: AK late in sattelite - help me to play it correctly
If a blank comes out and it's checked to you, easy shove all in. The only hand that is calling is a Q IMO and if he has a Q you can't do much about it I guess.

Re: AK late in sattelite - help me to play it correctly
I think this is push/fold on the flop. To me, that little dinky quarter-pot bet says "I missed, but maybe he did too." I'm pushing the flop. Calling here significantly decreases your FE for later streets.
PF, if you're convinced that you're getting it all-in regardless on the flop, then you might as well push. |

Re: AK late in sattelite - help me to play it correctly
I push pre,no doubt about that. As played, well,I can't see myself folding here. You have already invested 20% of your stack, what was your plan for this hand when you raised? To me,that's what it comes down to. If you raised just to get the blinds, and planned on giving up if you missed, then it's obv a fold.
Personally,I push here every time. You have too much invested, his bet is pretty small compared to the pot, could be he's giving himself an opportunity to fold if you push,bc you do have some FE here, not much, but a little. I'm not too worried about a Q,most people won't lead out if they have the Q here. Finally, calling should not be an option, not with your stack. If you call, miss the turn and he bets again, then what? If you plan on folding then, fold now and save some chips. |
