Shaving: Merkur Safety Razors
Old school razors: http://www.classicshaving.com/catalo...941/284046.htm
The claim: these give just as good a shave as 3/5 blade new razors... Anyone use these over gillette/schick stuff and can back up the claim? |

Re: Shaving: Merkur Safety Razors
AZK, I sent you a PM about this, but will comment briefly.
Safety razors and wet-shaving in general is far superior to using cartridge razors with any number of blades. I used the Mach 3 type of razor forever, and once I tried wet-shaving with a safety razor, I've never gone back. |

Re: Shaving: Merkur Safety Razors
I've been thinking about getting a safety razor myself. I agree that all cartridge/disposables suck equally. I have been using the cheapest single blade disposables I could find.
OTB, have you tried dry shaving with a good Norelco electric? When I say "dry" I mean you prep your face with talc before shaving (and after washing your face, obv). |

Re: Shaving: Merkur Safety Razors
I found Norelcos broke down extremely fast. Often they wouldn't work for even 6 months.
Panasonics used to be good, but not really anymore. |

Maybe they started making them better. I bought I think four of them over time before I just gave up.

[/ QUOTE ] I have not used an electric razor for any significant period of time. The limited times I have used one, I've really disliked it. I'd rank it below the usual cartridge-type (Mach 3, Fusion, etc) razors. |

Re: Shaving: Merkur Safety Razors
I like to give a quick pass over my face with an electric while Im putzing around teh house, before I hop in the shower and shave for real, I tend to be able to get a much better shave.

Never heard of wetshaving. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6886845/ long but interesting details of how to wetshave.
I've used a DE razor for 10 years and wouldn't switch to anything else. |
