Casinos in 2037 or 2057?
What do you think B&M casino's will be like in 30 or 50 years. DO you think everything will be machine? Will players still sit at a table but the dealer will be a robot...or will all places shut down because you can just play on your TV? Obviously all this is speculation but it's interesting to think of what will be the norm in 50 years.
What if some horrible president comes into power and tries to stop us from playing?...oh wait. |

Re: Casinos in 2037 or 2057?
Lets look at our rate of technological innovation and societal change over the last 50 years and project that forward.
In 1957, computers were a crude scientific tool which did not play much of a role in everyday life. The be all and end all to entertainment devices was a television (all of the cool kids had one). Fast food was just starting to be prevalent. For the most part, people ate meals at home or in a restaurant. Face to face social interaction was valued much more than it is today, but people were limited in their ability to easily take part in discussions with thousands of people (like this message board). Manners were valued. Most families stayed intact with the wife staying at home and the husband working. They had fewer luxuries. Fast forward to today and look at the increased importance that is placed on personal freedom and entitlement. We have also shifted into more of a convienence culture where we do not have time for things like a long meal. Just give me a burger at the drive through instead. Let someone else take care of the kids since both parents need to have "fulfilling" careers. Now fast forward 50 years. Here is my prediction.... Large B&M casinos will be a thing of the past, as will most places where people gather in groups today. People will gamble from their homes / mobile devices. After all, they work from home and attend school, church, etc from home. Why should gambling be any different. I envision a hologram gambling table with holograms for other players and dealers, etc. Oh, and NL 2-7 Triple Draw will be the dominant game. |

When does SkyNet become self-aware? I've always just assumed we'll be warring with machines at some point in the next 50 years. Who knows, it could be a supercomputer operated by 2+2?

Skynet is just fiction. Geez, can't you tell reality from make believe?
We'll actually all be part of the Dawson's Creek Trapper Keeper collective. |
