semi common spot with weak aces
online game, folded to you in CO.
you raise with say A5 and get called by the button and BB flop is A68 with two spades (you have none) check to you, you bet and get raised by button, BB folds. whats your plan for rest of hand? how drastically does a spade falling on the turn change things? unknown opponent LAG opponent LP-P opponent semi TAG opponent i tend to call down (all streets) too much in this situation i think |

Re: semi common spot with weak aces
I think calling down here as a default is fine. If the button is a somewhat weak tight player who will often CC raises with medium aces and doesn't make very many moves at the pot, then you can fold to the flop raise or to a turn bet if you don't catch good on the turn.
You need to also consider the likelihood you are chopping when you make your decision. Folding to a turn spade is reasonable, but calling to the river and then folding the river if a third spade comes can be bad if there's a reasonable chance you will split the pot with another weak A. For example, if the turn is the 6h you should call and if the river is the Js you should still definitely call. But if the turn is the Js, you might consider folding depending on a read. |

Re: semi common spot with weak aces
I check/call down against all non-passive opponents. Against a straight forward passive player, I can find a fold on the turn unimproved, but these players are so rare, that if you always just check/called down you would be playing very close to optimal.

Re: semi common spot with weak aces
In super-autopilot mode, I would check/call down against almost all opponents.

In super-autopilot mode, I would check/call down against almost all opponents. [/ QUOTE ] This is my standard line as well - however I (like the OP) am not sure this is correct - I have been trying either: calling flop and donking turn - and calling flop, cring turn on a safe card (fold to raise, lead river) against the right Button I think these lines have some value - af |
