Poker attire
So I have begun to think that the way you look when you are at the table can be a very important money making tool as well as the poker that you play.
I have a couple of tattoos on my arms/forearms that quite a few times when I went were covered up and on those days it seemed like I got a lot less action then on that I wore short sleave shirts. I am normally pretty tag player and rarely show down a bad hand. However I have noticed that when I am wearing a short sleaved shirt people disregard the fact that I haven't been playing many hands and will call my value bets all day. I have recently made a point to go to the casino in less then attractive attire tatts ablazing old hat on and the results have been astounding. Has anyone else dealt with this or experimented with their "poker look"? |

Looking like a scrub can indeed be +EV [/ QUOTE ] sooo true. but classy threads, a rolex and blinged out pinky ring is not a bad way to go either. |

Re: Poker attire
I have noticed myself do it before, looking at someone and thinking "must be this guys first time" or "well he just cashed the welfare check". Now I am going for that look! LOL

Re: Poker attire
I think people underestimate the impact of one's attire in many cases. For example, if I'm at the casino I usually wear a casual hoodie and jeans.
One time I was going out later to a nice restaurant with my family, so I was wearing a sexy ass shirt and some Hugo Boss black pants. Oh and also, I'd just had a short haircut. I found at my low limits the table just disliked me because I was not only much better looking than all of them, but also because I dressed so nice. Unfortunately I went busto on my first buy-in and had to go, but yeah, they were [censored] lol. I attracted a lot of attention. |

Re: Poker attire
Looking like the average patron of a casino is the trick. If I'm at the Borgata, I assume the well dressed guy in suit pants and a dress shirt is probably there to donate. At the Taj, its the guy who looks/smells like he's been there for two days.
All of this is basically for the first few minutes that I meet someone at a table, after that I go by what I see them do in the game (how they handle chips/cards as well as their playing style). |
