Am I playing too scared?
I think I played that hand bad. I think I should raise somewhere.
UTG is total fish passive calling station. Probably calling this flop with any two cards. BB no reads 3/6 5 players Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, Hero raises, 2folds, BB 3bets, UTG calls, Hero caps, both calls Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB bets, UTG calls, Hero calls Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BB bets, UTG calls, Hero calls River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB bets, UTG calls, Hero calls |

Re: Am I playing too scared?
Yes, you are. I would raise the flop....if reraised just calldown. If heads up would raise the turn.

Re: Am I playing too scared?
I raise flop and call down a 3-bet.
If you wait for the turn to raise you risk losing too much when you're behind trip Q's and forcing BB to fold a pocket pair that he will call a flop raise down with. |

Re: Am I playing too scared?
Raise the flop. He doesnt have a Q.
Call if he 3-bets and raise/fold river |

Re: Am I playing too scared?
Actually, when I think about it, it's not that bad. I would also raise the flop though, and then either keep betting when checked to, or call down when 3-bet. But I don't think your line is really that much worse. Sure, you may miss some value, but you will also sometimes safe bets, and at other times you keep UTG in, probably drawing nearly dead. So some of the potential missed value is regained there.

Re: Am I playing too scared?
As everybody said, raise the flop call down if he 3bets. Quite a few of his holding may appear to be ahead based on this flop.

Re: Am I playing too scared?
I don't mind your play here, but as Oink said, he probably doesn't have a Q here if he's a loose passive. Raise the flop with the other player trapped in there and watch him call down with his pp or A high.

Re: Am I playing too scared?
As played a river raise is pretty safe, we know UTG has not got a Q by now.
In the future, as advised by nearly all, raise flop, call down to 3 bet. I think it gets more interesting when we raise flop, they both call, then they lead out on the turn, here I would call down rather than raise into a potential trap. |

Re: Am I playing too scared?
I don't think you played it badly vs an unknown. if BB is a thinking player he will often have a Q, hoping to trap the fish for multiple bets
