Who really makes $$ anymore?
I would really appreciate the most honest feedback possible.
Are that many people really making a substantial profit in online poker anymore? I know of a handful of online players who have the ability to support themselves and their families solely by logging onto their computer, but the numbers have decreased dramatically in the last 2 years or so. It seems to me that a lot of players aren't truly honest with themselves and others when asked how much money they're realistically making/losing online. As for me, I was making money and cashing out around $300 or so every few months just as a little income supplementation as a college student. The past 2 years, however, it seems the weak players have either wised up or took a hike. I would like some honest feedback as to some people's opinions on this. It would be refreshing to hear from both losing and winning players who can be truly honest about their experiences/thoughts. Thanks. |

Re: Who really makes $$ anymore?
Maybe you should read the latest monthly graph threads. Plenty of people are winning, I'm making more money than I ever have. It sounds like your game has barely developed in the last two years, which is sad considering that over that time people have built 100k rolls from nothing with only hard work. It doesn't sound like you were much of a winner in the first place - I think that you've always been one of the "fish" you're talking about, but the games were just so bad then that you still managed to scrape by with a profit. The fish still exist, only this time around they're people like you.

Re: Who really makes $$ anymore?
I thought I'd give myself a little credibility. I do have an edge in MTT Donkaments, but I simply don't have enough free hours in a day to spend 7-10 hours in front of my computer to make a FT anymore. I've been experimenting with cash games and sngs recently, but have found MTT's are the most consistent, but you can only be profitable at these if you don't have a life because all the $ is made at the FT.
I've won the 25,000 guaranteed Re-buy on Stars, as well qualifying through to multiple stages of MTT satellites. MTT's I get, but I'm trying to become a better all around player. I've heard good and bad things about CardRunners.com, but I'm not crazy about paying a membership to a site who's owner (Brian Townsend) credits all of his success to that site. When in reality he didn't buy in to ownership or even hear about CR until after he made his millions. |

Re: Who really makes $$ anymore?
No, I'm OSUGreg1983 on Stars. If you are really curious as to whether I'm a fish or not, I currently have $1,100 profit in sngs. When I say I'm losing right now, its only a comparison as to what I was making before. I do still profit, but its at a decreasing rate.
