This is coming up soon. Parents are pretty strict/conservative types so you know how it is. What should I say to convince therapist that there is no problem with me playing poker as I am winning money from it and get a lot out of it mentally. Hope to get a few serious answers...
Anyone been in this spot before? |

I guess I'll go into a little more detail. I've just started about 2 months ago and haven't played that much. So far I've won $200 from micros (started from NL2) for about 1 hour a day. I only 2-table and I pay a lot of attention to the tables and post hands in uNL, and basically trying to learn whatever I can get my hands on.
Have no clue whether therapist knows about poker. |

Have no clue whether therapist knows about poker. [/ QUOTE ] doesn't matter, they know about addiction make sure you don't say stuff like, "i usually win and feel good, but when i lose i feel like crap until i play again and i'll kill a few kittens too" |

[/ QUOTE ] So if you just started playing two months ago, you aren't even playing much i.e. showing addictive behavior, and your parents are already sending you to a therapist... well, I'd talk about that. |

[/ QUOTE ] "son, no one knows whether they're a winner in poker after two months of playing. you haven't even had your first monkey tilt session or moved up from $10NL to $10-20NL to recoup losses." srsly. two months? i dare you to tell your therapist the truth: most poker players are losers and any form of gambling is a very dangerous preoccupation for 90+% of the population. maybe from there you can develop a healthy discussion that will help you learn to avoid some pitfalls and have a voice of reason in your head reminding you of what normal people do with their time and money, so as to create some moderation in your life, which, many poker players lack. gl, tex |
