I heard two rules (different games) that left me scratching my head.
One was the "no check-raise" rule. I guess this is like slapping their mom in the face. There other was really strange. Once per night a player can raise himself. For example, I bet in the SB on the flop and get a few callers, button calls but doesn't close the action. I have the option to raise myself to any amount. Any other happenings that make you go, "Hmmm?" |

no check-raise [/ QUOTE ] If I was told that rule I would tell them I have a no play rule and leave. |

If they can't appreciate the CR, they prob aren't the best anyways.
It's good and bad. The guy checks and you can bet with anything and you know he'll fold. |

No CR isn't that wacky. At one time is was frowned upon as not being "polite" so that particular rule has been around for awhile in "friendly" games.
Raising yourself is bizarre but opens a world of possibilities. You can do the old limp/all in move over the top of several callers.....lol Too wierd. Other than that I have nothing of substance to add to this post as my games follow the generally accepted Robert's Rules. Bet or fold sounds harsh. First thought is being oop would be brutal. Have to think about it some more though... Oh wait I thought of a wierd rule....four card flush beats a pair. Not sure I've ever actually played with that rule in place though. |

I once played with a group of wackos that allowed re-buying mid-hand.

My father in-law plays seven card stud hi/lo with his buddies. When he found out that I play everyday (BUT HOW MUCH DO YOU LOSE?)... he asked if I'd be interested in playing.
I was like.. hmmm.. you mean I can take some old guys for a ride? Yee ahh I'm in! I said, all regular 7stud hi/lo rules.. nothing funky right? He was like "yeah". I said, "Low brings it in, four bet cap on all streets and check-raises allowed etc." He said "What is a check-raise?" "DOH" I explained and he said "No, you cant do that." I would have played anyway but, he never brought up the game to me again after our talk. |

I've heard of a home-game rule where you can make a wrap-around straight - e.g. JQKA2. I heard that someone didn't realize that it was just a home game rule and played that hand in a b&m, expecting win with a str8 when he just had A high.
