Stars $10/180: Taking Heat on the turn w/ scary board
Villain is 21/18/3.7 over about 60 hands; the only reads I have is that his c-bets seem to differ in size from value bets
(not too relevant here). The money is still far away, and I have an above-average stack. I check the flop because the board seems scary. I wish to keep the pot small, if possible (any feedback here is appreciated). Additionally, I have some outs if I'm behind. Following the villain's turn push, I think my decision is pretty close (though I'm leaning towards a call). Please tell me if you think it's close, or if I'm being a nit. Thanks in advance! Bet the flop, As played I think its close but the pot is laying you a good price and he probably does this with enough one pair hands/draws to make the call.

Call and it's not even close. I dunno why QT or a set would check flop while sandwiched between two opponents.

[/ QUOTE ] This could be AQ, Q9, alot of 2 pair hands, set of TT/55, this is a 180, if he's got a big hand he's not thinking "I've got to protect my top 2" He's thinking "MONSTER TIME TO TRAP" This has to be a pure bluff alot to make it "not even close" |

Perhaps. Those are LAG stats, if I'm not mistaken.
Juicy pot odds though, and in a $11 it could be a weaker K, AJ or AT too. It depends. |

Preflop is fine. I probably would have bet the flop in order to see were i am at, maybe 600 - 700. But I also understand the reason behind your check. I think it really depends on the range that vilian is having in this situation. With what kind of hands does he call a early position raise while being on the button? I think any two pair combination would have bet the flop since there are many cards can kill the action on the turn. Sets might check. QTs is unlikely in my opinion. On the other hand, AQs or AQo is very likely because of the preflop action. The turn is a blank and he moves all-in. At that point you don't beat many hands. But I think since you bet the turn you have to call because of the pot odds
