33 in CO 14xBB
I got this hand from a video. $1K MTT. Blinds 75/150. You have 2050 in CO and it is folded to you with 33. Players to act have you covered. What is your play?

[/ QUOTE ] Shoving faceup is not unexploitable, but it's very close, I think the worst case is cEV = -4 chips. It's +cEV against any reasonable calling range, but not very significantly so. Edit: I take it back, shoving faceup is going to be unexploitably +cEV. There does exist a calling range that makes shoving -cEV, {44+}, but that will not be the calling range, at least in the BB, if we shove faceup. |

Re: 33 in CO 14xBB
shoving is never bad here (against 44+ its breakeven IIRC), and against some people its v +ev.

Re: 33 in CO 14xBB
This is from a Bax video. He folds it.
I am pretty sure pushing is significantly cEV+. It is standard to push a pp in mid position for 10xBB. Sklansky gives it is cEV+ to push 33 from the SB face up for 28xBB. In fact though, you are not pushing face up. 44-66 usually fold and AK/AQ almost always call. You are 37% against a calling range of 77+, ATs+, AJo+, KQs. This is 8% of the hand, so you get called maybe 22% of the time. You pick up 225 when you steal and lose about 450 when you are called. .78 * 225 - .22 * 450 = +76 chips or 1/2 of a big blind. I can't see how you could work it so it wouldn't be cEV+. I think pushing is a little better than raise/calling here, but I think that is really the only question, whether to raise/call or push. |

Re: 33 in CO 14xBB
I have truoble in these kinda spots alot. Cuz im not sure whether to raise/call or just push. The thing here is that sometimes people just call you instead of reraising. It leads to some situations that are not so good, but then I guess you can fold and still have 11xbbs. Like If you raise, get two callers and a bad flop, its gonna be hard for you to pick up the pot. Whereas if you just push its +cev and you dont run into this kinda problem. Make any sense? Someone straighten me out if this is wrong.

Re: 33 in CO 14xBB
It might be slightly +EV, but it is so marginal and a super high variance play. I fold it.
