pot control vs draw protection vs stack protection OOP
OK, so it seems my trouble with the AQo hand I posted results from some confusion i have with this situation.
Suppose you're heads up or 3 way with a good but not monster hand OOP, like TPTK. Everyone has 100-200 BB stacks. The pot is raised preflop. What are the best flop and turn lines? How to we protect against draws, but save ourselves from getting stacked? I'm really confused as how top play hands like this. It seems that if we bet enough to protect our hand on the flop and turn that we can become easily stacked by any two pair/set hand....but if we dont, then we get drawn out on...any advice? |

Re: pot control vs draw protection vs stack protection OOP
Depends on your opponent. If youre opponent is a fish and will call off with a bad hand, you have to take the risk of getting stacked so that you can maximise youre value.
If you're against good opponents, they aren't going to call off lightly, so you have to check more turns against them. This is because youre bet is now only getting called when you're behind. Basically, if you think you're ahead, you should protect youre draw and protect it properly. If you think you're already behind, you should not care so much about free cards and lean more towards checking. |

Re: pot control vs draw protection vs stack protection OOP
I've said it once and I'll say it again:
There is no pot control when you are OOP. And this situation is way to general to give specific advice. It's totally player and situation specific. Post hands and then we can discuss. |
