Live 5/10 game. Pretty sweet loose game, not too aggressive, and only one decent opponent (bb)
Hero is in co with 5 :heart:5 :spade: 2 ep's limp, hero limps, sb completes, bb checks (5sb) Flop is j :spade:5 :club:9 :club: sb checks, bb bets, 1 ep limper calls, other folds, hero raises, sb folds, bb and limper call. (11 sb) Turn is 6 :spade: bb checks, limper bets, hero calls?, bb calls (8.5bb) River is 4 :club: bb checks, limper checks, hero ?????? I'm already pretty sure I should have raised the turn for a couple of reasons, but given a not-so-great river, what's your line here? I'll post results in white below. [color:white] [/color] |

Definitely bet this river. I'm assuming you lost this hand, but the point is that your opponents will very often not be on the draw and you will just miss out on some clear value.

Actually I won the hand but I'm kicking myself for missing another bet.

My question is what are you putting your opponents on that you don't raise the turn? It seems like there are two flush draws on the board at this point and you want to make anyone pay to get there - if it is a passive game like you say, I'm guessing you are getting two callers... With the BB leading the turn after you raised the flop, there is a good chance he has something like J9 - you say he is a decent player - do you see him making this play with a set or would he just let you continue your aggression show by checkraising? Limper may have something like TQ or A9 - I think you hand is still by far the best.

You must raise the turn here, for many of the reasons outlined before. I'll add another one: if you do not raise the turn, your raises on the flop in position will not get respect. This takes the free card play away from you in the future, since top pair out of position is never afraid of betting into you anymore, knowing that the worst that you are going to do is just call.
