Default LC: FR guys, how about Poker & Philanthropy?

I have had a good month of poker and in addition to buying myself and my wife some nice things.. i finally got round to setting up a monthly donation to www.wateraid.org.

It takes me a few profitable hours each month now to make a difference to peoples lives. Hell, next time a donk gets stacked, a life might actually be saved somewhere. I'll be sure to mention that to the next donk that gets snagged. I am sure he will feel better

Just a thought to some of you guys that are doing well building rolls etc..

Does anyone else play for any good causes (awaiting a barrage of silly comments):

Well done you! I give generously to a variety of causes, but my roll is so small that poker winnings gifts would be insignificant in comparison.

Simao you are the man!!! NH!! I have nothing but the highest respect for you for doing this. You think about the welfare of your fellow human beings rather trying build a roll to buy a plasma TV or some stupid [censored] like that. I wish that more poker players would do things like this. Next time I cash out, I will definitely give a portion to such a charity. maybe this wateraid. Ill check it out.

Poker $$$ is poker money.

Charity $$$ comes out of general revenue stream.

Balance is the secret to everything. NH. In truth it costs us so little to help others out.

I think the poker gods are the sort to appreciate a sacrifice in their name.

I am far too poor at this point in my life, but I have much respect for those that donate moneys and hope I can comfortably do the same in the future.

If any of you live in NY and like clean water my job used to be coordinator of the Hudson River Watershed Alliance: www.hudsonwatershed.org

They can't take donations directly but Clearwater can take $ for them (they are an awesome group too and my former employer)... www.clearwater.org
