Carnival Cruise
I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of "poker" they play in the casinos on their ship. Going on a ship called "Imagination" if that helps. Thanks.

Re: Carnival Cruise
2/4 and 4/8 limit. Two or three tables. Dealers are horrible and rake is huge, but the games are insanely soft.

Re: Carnival Cruise
Didn't have poker when I went on my cruise (it depends on the ship). But if you know how to count cards they apparently don't care so blackjack can be fun. People would talk openly about counting at the tables and no one cared. Maybe cus most of them lost anyway and didn't really know what they were doing. I made plenty of cash to have a real fun cruise though.

Re: Carnival Cruise
I was on Carnival ship Paradise over Christmas, Dec 2006
and they had two poker tables of 5/10 limit holdem stuck in a corner on the level where they have the nightclub/bars. Came across it by accident. Hard to find. We almost won enough to pay for our cruise. |

Re: Carnival Cruise
I was on Carnival 'Victory' this past summer. It had one of those electronic multi-player touch screen Hold-em machines.
They were basically running Turbo, high vig sit-n-gos. They also said on most cruises they get 3-6 limit going on it. but on my cruise it was just the sit n gos. I think it was 60+20 300 200 100 but I could be wrong there. The 200 total vig (20*10) @ ~30% buy-in was pretty steep especially considering there is no dealer. That said, I was up: won one and placed in a second one. Didn't money in 3 or 4... Big screen board in the middle and each person had their own touch screen to view their cards and place bets. I hear they have this contraption on a few of their boats. I would never play on one of these machines if there was a live dealer alternative, but it wasn't horrible either except for the vig and round lengths. |
