What are the best card rooms around the Chicago/Tri-State area?
I know there are Trump and Harrahs casinos in Indiana, Potowatome in Milwaukee. There are also casinos in Elgin and in Joliet but I don't know which ones have decent cardrooms. I am looking to play something around 5/10, but I'll play a little lower or higher if thats where the action is. |

I like Potowatome the best. Trump isn't bad, but I think it was recently renamed....
Depends on where you are staying and how much you are willing to drive. Unless you are in the northern suburbs Potowatome is probably too far away to justify the drive. Trump and Harrah's (Resorts now) are much easier to get to and fairly good rooms. Given that they are at least 30-45 minutes closer for me (I live downtown), I usually just play there. Potowatome is a nice room though with much worse players IMHO. |

Elgin has a boat but no poker. Aurora has about 8 tables spreading 5/10 and 10/20 both very soft games.

[/ QUOTE ] I experienced the rake at the $5/10 LHE game in Aurora (Hollywood Casino) to be absurdly high - $6. The Arogsy Empress in Joliet, Ill., also has a small poker room. But I'd recommend Resorts first and then Trump. |

Resorts Also drags $6 from the 5/10 ($5 rake + $1 for the bad beat). $5 rake for 10/20 + up with no BBJ.
Is it just me, or is Resorts an insanley loud room for being isolated from the rest of the casino? I've never brought a MP3 player to a poker room, but will the next time I go to Resorts. |

I'm fairly certain Resorts does not allow you to listen to music.

Indiana is definately a closer drive for me. I do pass through Milwaukee quite often though. How about drinks and comps at these places? I have never been to a casino outside of vegas. I play live for fun so I like to drink quite a bit.

Wait lists on Friday night thru Sunday can be up to 4 hours in the evenings. Weekdays little or no wait. If you decide to play on the weekend get there before noon. Drinks are about typical bar prices no free drinks like Vegas. Indiana is the same way |

Damn, not what I wanted to hear...I have to wait 4 hours to play and can't get plowed for free in the meantime.
Thanks for your input. |
