Default TV Prices

Just perusing various websites for a new TV and was fully expecting to pay in excess of £1,500 for a 42"+ HDTV. I just found this Samsung 42" HDTV:

£775 (~$1,500)

I've found a Sony Bravia 52" for around £1,075 ($2,100) which seems absurdly affordable compared with what I thought TV prices were.

Thoughts?

Samsung makes great TV's. You might consider an LCD's as well as plasmas. Don't pay for Sony. They make great stuff, but Samsung and Panasonic are comprable at a much lower price. If you are looking at Plasmas, Panasonics typically get rated the highest and Samsung is rated highest for LCD's.

jws pretty much hit it on the head - the best bang for the buck right now is samsung for LCD's and panasonic for plasma's.

If you go LCD, you might as well go 1080p - I've seen 40" 1080p samsung's for around $1500. (The 720p versions for around $1000).

The panasonic plasma's go for around $1000-1200 (all are 720p).

1080p in plasmas are still unreasonable.
