first hand on a HU SNG, opponent pushes. your play?
let's say you are playing a no-limit hold 'em heads-up SNG, with 100BB starting stacks. on the very first hand, your opponent pushes all-in from the button. what's your calling range here?

Re: first hand on a HU SNG, opponent pushes. your play?
Against an unknown I don't like to call with anything but AA and KK.
Maybe a bit tight, but the only time I have called an all-in on the first hand I was up against AKo and got my KK busted. Apart from that I have no clue how a player with that approach could be thinking and what kind of holding would be most likely. So I opt for a better safe than sorry approach and expect to see JJ+ or AK a lot of the time. |

QQ is a crying call. My opinion on this matter is basically that we have 100 big blinds on the first hand, so we need to call with the top one in one hundred hands.

You guys are ridiculous.
TT+ AQs+ AKo would be instacalls for me. |

You'll make money calling TT-JJ, but get drawn out alot when you go up against 2 overs.
You'll break even with AK and maybe lose a little with AQs. Your calling range will decrease your ROI but increase your $/hr probably. |

[/ QUOTE ] These are very close to the game theory solution I computed ages ago for the NL jam/fold problem with 75BB starting stacks. For that, if the SB pushes, I found you should always call from the BB with AA-JJ and AKs and sometimes call with 3 other hands: AQs (27%) AK (19%) TT (17%). green_tea |

You cannot pass up a chance with a pair like 10s or Js since this guy could be total lunatic pushing with unders or connectors. He could be high/drunk and getting a kick out of pushing all in "blind" the first hand. I would even be tempted to call with a wider range including AQ and AJs. |
