Default HU hand against TheGrunch

Ok, so this is supposedly a tournament hand but I don't think it matters much.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t10 (2 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Button :TheGrunch (t2805)
Hero (t3195)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
TheGrunch raises to t50, Hero calls t40.

Flop: (t100) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t100, TheGrunch calls t100.

Turn: (t300) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, TheGrunch checks.

River: (t300) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets t150, TheGrunch raises to t450, Hero raises to t1000, TheGrunch calls t550.

Final Pot: t2300

1) the pf call with these stacks I think it's standard

2) I pot the flop, hoping to see an ace / protect against a spade draw

3) What do you think of the turn check?

4) I lead the river for an ammount that I think looks like a blocker so that he can call without a spade or raise with any two. I'm not too happy with my 3bet ammount, I wanted to leave enough behind to play if he pushes (I don't think he pushes anything worse than 8's full) but I think I missed value.

Oh and by the way, it's a tournament only in the fact that we can't reload. The blinds do not escalate.

yeah, but I actually consider how much I would have left, in a cash game I wouldn't think about that

Since this is 2+2 play and not typical small stakes play, I think that there is probably too much going on here for any of us here to comment on.

But anyway, why check the turn? Are you hoping he checks behind or are you expecting him to bet and you call? Do you think you are drawing to 4 outs or do you expect to be ahead here a majority of the time?

the reason I check is that I won't fold the turn, even if he pots it, but if I bet and he pot raises I probably fold and with these stacks he can raise the turn with naked flush draw if he's feeling tricky

Why?
Would you really be able to get away from this?
Heads up?
Dodging bullets Hellmuth-style?

well, what do you think he pushes?
not the naked Ks, I don't even think he pushes 5's full (even if I can get myself to believe he called the flop with 55).

He pushes AA, TT, A8... and that's about it, nothing else makes sense.

PS: even though this was hu the game wasn't incredibly agressive, sure there were some steals and resteals but with this action if he pushes he's not bluffing or thinking about representing a bluff.

I rarely get the chance to play HU with such deep stacks against a good opponent (but hopefully I'll get to play Ness soon).

I usually think Hu poker is like this.

So I'd go broke here.

But I agree with your analysis.
