FWIW, I'm not a Boston fan or homer, but I did think it was cool that the Boston fans had got to see three of the best players ever: Larry Bird, Ted Williams, and Bobby Orr. With the emergence of Brady, I am wondering if any city can top this list.
Boston MLB - Ted Williams NBA - Larry Bird NFL - Tom Brady NHL - Bobby Orr Detroit and Chicago are great, but not up to Boston IMO Detroit MLB - Ty Cobb NBA - Isiah Thomas NFL - Barry Sanders NHL - Gordie Howe Chicago MLB - Ernie Banks NBA - Michaeal Jordon NFL - Walter Payton NHL - Bobby Hull Any other cities that can compete with these?. If you toss the NBA, and go with 3 stars, maybe Pittsburg? Of if you toss the NHL, and go with three stars, maybe some other cities? Thoughts? |

NY:
MLB - Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Mantle, Mays, Robinson, and many others NFL - LT NHL - I don't know hockey, but there's gotta be somebody NBA - they're kinda weak, but Frazier, Monroe, Reed, Ewing are all HoFers. Plus Oakley. NY is so overwhelming when it comes to baseball it's insane. |

DKS,
You forgot Jerry West. And Shaq. And Kobe is last on the list. |

Yeah, I figured I had too many names already and really, sorting out the 4 I listed and the 2 you did is tough. I believe LA has to win best overall NBA talent ever, with Boston not far behind.

[/ QUOTE ] Probably Magic, Kareem, Shaq, Kobe, Wilt, West.. I dunno, the last 3 are hard. I'm looking at it from purely a Lakers standpoint, when Wilt wasn't quite WILT, but still great nonetheless. Crazy thing I just noticed about Wilt. Played 14 seasons, only missed a significant portion of 1 of those, and averaged 46 mpg for his career. Insane. |
