Hi there.
I have recently suffered a pretty serious blow to my roll [rivered; rivered; tilt; tilt, long boring story], and dropping down a level is not really an option [I play party, and the lowest 6max stakes are $25, have no intention of playing FR]. My roll after the recent bad run is $315, pretty seriously under-rolled for NL25. WHat are your thoughts on buying in short, with say $20, or less, until my roll recovers, to compensate? |

go to a site that has NL10. [/ QUOTE ] Not an option: - LOL [in capital letters] FTP [Self-explanatory]. - Accidentally self-excluded myself from Stars for 6 months. - Lol Pokerroom's weird software and 5 max tables. - Lol Absolute: you can't fit 4 tables on my screen, and why do they call NL50 NL25? Also kind of gross software. - Lol Everest's player-base, and slow software. - Lol UB [Self-explanatory]. - All other sites seem to have a smallish player base, and likely little game selection at the times I can play [from NZ]. So Party it is! Given this.... What are your thoughts on buying in short, with say $20, or less, until my roll recovers, to compensate? |

Just play NL 25. Unless you run or play real bad, you shouldn't lose 11 buy-ins.

Still keen for some comments regarding whether it is a sound strategy to buy in short to maximise bankroll. I am not talking about donk-stacking here, but buying in for $18 of $20.
Any old hands have any comments around this? |

[/ QUOTE ] FTP isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be on these boards [ QUOTE ] - Lol Absolute: you can't fit 4 tables on my screen, and why do they call NL50 NL25? Also kind of gross software. [/ QUOTE ] Absolute just added resizable tables. They don't call NL50 "NL25", they just allow you the option to buy in for 200BBs. You can just play NL25 and buy in for $25. You're still playing 100BBs deep. |

$315 is not terribly underrolled at 25NL. In games this soft, some players can get away with a BR that is less than the standard. Gotta stop the tilting, obv. I would play with this roll, and if you do go busto, rebuy somewhere that has 10NL.
Shortstacking 25NL does not sound good. The shorter you play, the more EV you give up vs. bad players. So playing shorter causes your maximum potential winrate to be lower. Your winrate at NL $25 is already low enough in dollars that shortstacking these stakes just really seems like a waste of time to me. Also, variance tends to be higher when playing short, and you will have to make the right adjustments to your game to play short effectively. Just play 25NL, full buy in. |
